Department of Mathematics
Department of mathematics provides training in bachelor study Mathematics.
Department of mathematics also provides training of mathematical disciplines in study of mathematical teaching for secondary schools and high schools.
Department of mathematics also takes part in training of mathematical disciplines in studies at other departments of the Faculty of Sciences.
Research activities of the department include particularly the following:
general topology and theory of categories (continuous functions on products, reflective and coreflective classes) (prof. Husek)
real analysis and its applications to the problems of the calculus of variations and differential equations (prof. Maly)
nonassociative algebra and theory of binary systems (prof. Nemec)
variaties of ordered semigroups (dr. Kuril)
phylogenetic and ontogenetic development of the infinity concept (doc. Eisenmann, Mgr. Kratka, prof. Cihlar)
investigative approach in school mathematics (prof. Kopka)
